Lease a Leaf was born not in a boardroom,
but in the rolling fields of Northumberland.
Philip spent his early years as a dairy farmer, milking cows on the land his family had worked for many years.
Overnight the family lost the herd to foot and mouth disease and the future they had built their lives around.
Philip turned his knowledge to putting the pit heaps of the Northeast back to grassland which led to an award from the Department of the Environment BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries) for a reclamation scheme at Blaydon on the banks of the River Tyne.

It was at the DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) awards ceremony that Philip and Wendy were introduced to the idea of interior landscaping, and they took the idea back to the North East, where their first sales were to motor dealers.
Today Lease a Leaf is a family run national business still grounded in the values Philip learned on the farm: hard work, care for living things and respect for the environment supported by Wendy’s scientific and horticultural background.
Alongside their parents Andy, Matt and Ed have grown the business into one of the UK’s leading interior plant providers specialising in planting for commercial environments and exclusive residential buildings.
